Juan Escobedo Artist Statement
In my photographic journey, I find inspiration in the delicate interplay of dreams, community, discarded objects, sombreros, and traditions. These seemingly unlikely elements combine to form a rich tapestry of visual storytelling that speaks to the complexities of the human experience.
Dreams serve as ethereal guides, leading me through realms of imagination where reality blurs with the surreal. I strive to capture the fleeting essence of dreams, translating their ephemeral beauty into tangible images that evoke a sense of wonder and introspection.
At the heart of my work lies a deep connection to community. I am drawn to human interaction, where shared experiences and collective memories intertwine to create a sense of belonging. Through photography, I seek to celebrate the diversity and resilience of communities, shedding light on the stories that often go unnoticed amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Trash, sombreros and traditions-these are the raw materials from which I craft my narratives. I am fascinated by the juxtaposition of the mundane and the extraordinary, finding beauty in unexpected places and moments of vulnerability. Whether capturing the quiet dignity of a discarded object or the raw emotion, my photography is a testament to the inherent poetry of life's ephemeral moments.
In essence, my photography is a reflection of the human experience in all its complexity and beauty. With my camera, I strive to capture the essence of dreams, community, trash, sombreros, and traditions, inviting viewers to explore the profound connections that bind us together as human beings.
